Recently had record of the week on BBC Essex, Pick of the unsigned new music category in NME and hopefully set to record their second album in 2008 with Turin Breaks’ drummer.
They have a classic sound bouncing from the likes of BILL WITHERS to THE SMITHS. Many have mentioned TalkTalk, Keane, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Starsailor, but its very original, sounds like The White Gospel! Catch them while you can.

Songs From The Blue House
Kinda folksy/country/ a bit bluegrass,
but still nodding to pop and even punk
onstage 17:20 - 17:40

Songs From The Blue House was meant to be very simple, just two chaps, Shane Kirk and James Partridge with acoustic guitars. Their influences include Neil Young, Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt and Alison Krauss and as a result, the Songs From The Blue House sound is kinda folksy, but sort of country and then again a bit bluegrass, but still nodding to pop and even punk.
And then it just grew. First, ‘Gibbon’ was roped in, adding his own unique feel for melody, harmonies and arrangement as well as bass and brass. One of the songs needed a female voice for a verse, so Helen stepped in and refused to leave, especially once she’d helped to write a good chunk of what turned out to be the second album ‘Too’. James found a mandolin and dobro player at an Asparagus Fair. Banjo player Tony Winn offered to fit in gigs between acting engagements and his own ‘Singing in the Bath’ show and Young Bob Lockwood rosined up his bow and added more new sounds with his fiddle. At times the band has sported as many as twelve members on stage, and on occasions as few as three - The Songs from the Blue House live experience is certainly a moveable feast!
"Tree" is SftBH’s third album and is available on iTunes, in record stores and on play.com and includes their single ‘Don’t Fear The Reaper’.
