In 2003 they were the youngest band booked at the prestigious Cambridge Folk Festival and have played at the festival every year since then.
Twice All Ireland, and four times British champion on the Bodhrán, Adam Brown provides the pulsating heartbeat to the group’s tunes and his energetic guitar playing drives the music along. He is the 2007 All Britain champion on the Bodhrán. Acknowledged as one of the best Button Accordion players in the country Alan MacLeod brings a unique flair and style to both traditional and contemporary tunes. He is the 2007 All Britain champion on the Accordion. With a sweet and soulful voice Erin Ella Brown is the vocalist in the group, and plays Fiddle and Bodhrán. She is the 2007 All Britain silver medallist on Bodhrán. Multi- instrumentalist Sean Clery plays Fiddle, Banjo, Whistles and Flute at a stunning pace that will leave most audiences breathless in admiration. He is a former All Britain champion on Fiddle and Banjo.

No I.D’s second CD "Footprints" was launched at the Cambridge Folk Club in September 2006 and received great reviews in the press. The most surprising fact about No I.D is that the average age in the Band is still only 18.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to categorise music by REVERE. Incorporating violin, cello, keys, trumpet and harp into a three guitar-led sound, REVERE touch on numerous musical reference points, combining elements of gypsy marches, klezmer, post rock, film scores and gospel into a truly unique sound.

Live, REVERE play with an unparalleled intensity, working songs from music-box soft openings into relentless walls of sound shot through with a show-stopping falsetto.

A mature singer/songwriters band whose brand of tender but epic music drops jaws and fills up the eyes of most discerning listeners. It's been 5 years on the way up to find this line up of experience who have all been playing for years.
Recently had record of the week on BBC Essex, Pick of the unsigned new music category in NME and hopefully set to record their second album in 2008 with Turin Breaks’ drummer.
They have a classic sound bouncing from the likes of BILL WITHERS to THE SMITHS. Many have mentioned TalkTalk, Keane, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Starsailor, but its very original, sounds like The White Gospel! Catch them while you can.

Songs From The Blue House

Kinda folksy/country/ a bit bluegrass,
but still nodding to pop and even punk

onstage 17:20 - 17:40

2007 was a fantastic year for Songs From The Blue House: their album ‘Tree’ made the BBC Radio Suffolk top Five Albums of the year after they’d opened The Oxford Folk Festival on the main stage as support to the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain and if that wasn’t enough, they were also featured in ‘The Word’ magazine with editor Mark Ellen describing them as "a great band, I’d recommend them to anybody" after they had shared the main stage at The Cornbury Festival with the likes of Robert Plant, Deacon Blue, Hayseed Dixie and The Pretenders.

Songs From The Blue House was meant to be very simple, just two chaps, Shane Kirk and James Partridge with acoustic guitars. Their influences include Neil Young, Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt and Alison Krauss and as a result, the Songs From The Blue House sound is kinda folksy, but sort of country and then again a bit bluegrass, but still nodding to pop and even punk.

And then it just grew. First, ‘Gibbon’ was roped in, adding his own unique feel for melody, harmonies and arrangement as well as bass and brass. One of the songs needed a female voice for a verse, so Helen stepped in and refused to leave, especially once she’d helped to write a good chunk of what turned out to be the second album ‘Too’. James found a mandolin and dobro player at an Asparagus Fair. Banjo player Tony Winn offered to fit in gigs between acting engagements and his own ‘Singing in the Bath’ show and Young Bob Lockwood rosined up his bow and added more new sounds with his fiddle. At times the band has sported as many as twelve members on stage, and on occasions as few as three - The Songs from the Blue House live experience is certainly a moveable feast!

"Tree" is SftBH’s third album and is available on iTunes, in record stores and on play.com and includes their single ‘Don’t Fear The Reaper’.

The Raid

A swaggering rock n roll band with the
tunes to match their boisterous bravado

The Raid’s frontman Adam Robinson says his aim is to become "one of the biggest acts in the world". Watching the band live you can’t doubt their determination to deliver on that ambition. A rock n roll band in the truest sense, this Hemel Hempstead five piece are loud, purposeful, raucous, vociferous and up in your face. So they’ve got all the right ingredients, and after watching the band on the Green Stage we’re sure you’ll agree they put those elements to good use too.

Pop trivia: In February this year, The Raid released debut single ‘We Know Best’ on celebrated indie label Shifty Disco.

Sub Pop Sunday

With half an eye on stardom, Stortford’s Sub Pop Sunday

Bishops Stortford-based act will be looking to make 2008 their own and are sure not to disappoint when they bring their emotionally-charged routine to the Green Stage. And it’s not just us that’s tipping the band for bigger things. Last year the act were crowned winners of the ‘XFM Unsigned’ search for new talent and also featured in the final five of MTV2’s ‘Get Seen Get Heard’ campaign that saw them gain massive exposure on MTV, MTV2 and TMF.

Sure to be a highlight of the festival, this is one band not to be missed.

Pop trivia: After catching Sub Pop Sunday live in London, XFM’s Alex Zane was so impressed that he invited the band to be interviewed on his radio breakfast show the very next morning.

Little Thief

Young, poppy and as energetic as a rocket-propelled greyhound,
Little Thief are to indie what Super Mario is to princess rescue

Little Thief aren’t a band to hang about. Formed in October 06, it took the young indie-dance trailblazers two months to be named Steve Lamacq’s demo of the week and literally another month for them to accumulate a fan-base big enough to sell out venues in their Bedfordshire hometown. Today, we estimate it’ll take just three songs before they’ve bagged themselves a whole field full of new Bishop's Stortford fans.

Pop trivia: Among their ranks, Little Thief boast a distant descendent of Charles Dickens. Or so they claim...

Harlow-based Penny Royal are a flashback to a great bygone age. With influences ranging from The Small Faces to the Who, The Beatles to The Kinks, the band’s appeal is as obvious today as it would have been 40 years previously. Originally the brainchild of dueling frontmen Stuart Ferguson (AKA Winnie-Pie) and Mitch Harrington, Penny Royal found their shape with the addition of former Fallout guitarist Joey Moriarty on bass and Shaun Clark (also of Orgazmatron and The Seminals) on drumming duties.

Now a highlight of the local gigging scene, the band are winning fans right across the region, and recently recorded their debut EP with Harlow label Shedio. Pop trivia: To add some youthful richness to their recordings, Penny Royal asked more than 100 children from Hare Street primary school in Harlow to provide backing vocals for their track 'Teaparty'.
