BICYCLE THIEVES
Astonishing debut single 'Stop To Start / Camera Shy' from Liverpool’s Bicycle Thieves is in that city’s glorious post-punk tradition, but is shot through with a fierce modern intensity. Named after a classic Italian neo-realist movie, the band are by turns audacious, atmospheric and ambitious. The band have also received major support from Radio 1 DJ's Zane Lowe, Steve Lamacq and Huw Stevens and gained a lot of attention after playing Glastonbury and featuring in NME; 2010 will be a big year for Bicycle Thieves.

THE STRANGERHOOD
Bishop's Stortford four-piece The Strangerhood, who categorise their highly original quasi-electronic style as "dirtyacousticsynthnoiserock", are one of the most popular acts on the
local music scene. At the core of their sound are the powerful and emotional compositions
of frontman Dean Austin, who wields his acoustic guitar like a weapon as he belts out the
lyrics with an almost intimidating intensity. The cherry on top of the musical cake comes
from his comrades, who lay down some hypnotic, insistent dance-style beats and grooves
layered with echoing, distorted cries of electronic noise that sound like some crazed disco
from another planet. Experimental but highly listenable, The Strangerhood are a real one-
off.

FUTURE OF THE LEFT
Future of the Left is an alternative rock band which formed in 2005 in Cardiff, Wales out of the ashes of Mclusky and Jarcrew. Welsh trio mclusky was one of the bright spots in the British indie scene’s post-Britpop hangover, forming in 1999 and releasing three appealingly noisy albums before splitting in January 2005. During the same period, Welsh electro-punks Jarcrew released two albums before also splitting in early 2005, reportedly due to the drummer finding religion.
Remaining with mclusky’s label Too Pure, Future of the Left made their debut with the double A-side Fingers Become Thumbs / The Lord Hates A Coward in January 2007. Two more singles followed: adeadenemyalwayssmellsgood and Small Bones Small Bodies; and the album Curses was released in September 2007. Falkous’s trademark abrasive guitar riffs and vocals remained in evidence, but also added to the mix were keyboards: an old Roland synth plugged through a guitar amp in most cases, but also acoustic piano on album closer The Contrarian.

THE BARON & THE GENERAL
Born and Living
the baron & the general a mystery where i come from,,,
they only walk on the dark side of the road.
some say they have wild green velvet eyes, some say they have microphonic wheat beards, and play guitar with diamond encrusted chin plectrums.
the baron & the general are the living dead,
the baron & the general will eat your cats,
the baron & the general will make love to your dustbins at night,
keep your windows shut,
and scream if you ever hear the sweet jangles lashing from the baron & the generals guitar...
prepare yourselves, prepare yourselves,
the baron & the general are comin' the baron & the general is a comin'...

VIOLET BONES
VIOLET BONES are a four piece indie pop band, all sharing the common purpose that they have something to say and that they wanted people to hear! Writing songs based on their experiences in life and not because certain topics are cool! Having played together for a few years before, they focused on writing songs that reflected the feelings of the four young men living in a world full of recession, dreams of escaping small town mentalities and of course... girls!
Si, Rik, Stuart and Oz, all played and wrote music together since 2005 (despite being mates for longer), performing countless gigs up and down the country. Now in their early 20s, they made the choice not to go to university as they didn’t want to end up being ‘twenty-somethings’ with a load of debt and a useless degree in geography! Now being faced with the realities of dead end boring jobs, working long hours that leads to no real money worked as a twisted inspiration to get out of the socially acceptable nine to five lifestyle.

POPDAD
popdad are a two piece pop group... a twinset if you will.
Murray Torkildsen - twanger and vocals, David Gravy - smashy stuff and vocals.
Murray from hyper underrated Essex gobshites The Sweeney and Dave is the singer in top Harlow combo TheWorldOnFire.
Apart from the 'an idiot can understand them' fab pop songs, the popdad sound is created by the unusual method of playing the guitar and bass at the same time on the same instrument (a 1957 Watkins Rapier) without the aid of electronic tomfoolery and trickery.
However, a fuzz box and harmonium are employed sparingly.
The demonstration recordings you hear were recorded in David's shed. A nice shed but a shed never the less.
Enjoy.

‘Hounds’ have performed in a variety of venues in their native Essex and continue to build on their local fan base. LIFE OF BYRON
Taking their name from an infusion of the name of their lead singer and that of the famous Python film, Life of Byron creates a balanced idea. One which can be fun and outspoken and that which is poetic and truthful.

Embracing their many influences, this band has a will to stand out and a drive to create like no other. Dynamic, Energetic and Soulful alternative music is the result and a hard hitting one at that! The band attempts to reach out with music that can alter your mood and outlook on life.

THE SUMMONS
The band formed in march 2007 when Craig Cole woke up under a bridge just outside of Harlow and stumbled into town.
He headed for the Biffa bins in the town center only to find Danny Shwe asleep in one! the pair began to argue over... well nothing really? so they decided to settle their disagreement with musical Duel...
Sam Edgell flaped over demanding to be involved in the medi-evil showdown, they stared at eachother for 72 hours before saying.... Yes you can join if we can name you 'Wingnut' He agreed and the battle started out as a Brit-punk outfit, and the three were performing live shows in a matter of six weeks.
2008 saw the outfit evolve into a funky, Indie band with dance beats slowly fusing into the mix.
2009 The band had finally found their own quirky way of doing things by fusing Dub & Dance the two main influences running through the band.
Mixing these genres in the same way a DJ would in a live fashion, gave them the sound you will hear today!
2010 and The Summons become four, Alex Bayly the newest edition was head hunted for his expertise in the mushroom stance.... now these lads can be seen doing battle in a venue near you or maybe in your home if you would allow it? "MUMMY... who are those strange men in our house? and why do they have instruments?"
"The Summons, a four piece Indie-Dub/Dance band from Essex & Herts."
Creating a fresh new genre in a "follow the leader industry".
Welcome to our world of madness...
