Robots In Disguise

ROBOTS IN DISGUISE are fronted by DEE PLUME (guitar and vocals) and SUE DENIM (bass and vocals). Part riot grrl princesses, part monsters of DIY musical mayhem, this maverick electro-indie-rock-dance duo has a reputation for fashion-forward style and energetic shows where Dee’s guitar and Sue’s grooving bass lines dance over chunky electronic beats and tell-it-like-it-is lyrics.

The Robots first met at a Le Tigre gig and quickly discovered a shared love of girl punk bands and so started writing music together.

Snapped up by French label, Recall, ROBOTS IN DISGUISE released their eponymous debut album in 2004, creating a real buzz throughout Europe after which they took their crazed live show on tour. Their dancefloor killer 12” single, BOYS, was released with remixes by Hidden Agenda, SIN, The Servant and Tommy Hools and won over a host of fans including Boy George and Peaches.

After a US release and tour in 2005, ROBOTS IN DISGUISE released GET RID!, their sharp, snazzy electrofunk album on Recall in France, Anorak Supersport in Benelux countries and Australia’s Shock Records. Their standout single, DJ’s GOT A GUN, enjoyed heavy rotation across Europe and the States. GET RID! was taken up by President Records in the UK in ‘06, with its single, TURN IT UP, featured on US hit show, Ugly Betty.

ROBOTS IN DISGUISE have graced the pages of numerous fashion magazines donning their discopunk mod look and have also acted in BBC2's The Mighty Boosh as evil alter egos, The Electro Girls and The Goth Girls.

The ROBOTS IN DISGUISE then released their 3rd album, WE’RE IN THE MUSIC BIZ, produced by Chris Corner (Sneaker Pimps/ I Am X) in Berlin. Sharp, dancey, tongue-in-cheek and frequently impossibly catchy, WE’RE IN THE MUSIC BIZ includes the hit singles, THE SEX HAS MADE ME STUPID, WE’RE IN THE MUSIC BIZ and THE TEARS.

This release was followed by much acclamation from fans and press and the ROBOTS IN DISGUISE embarked on an extensive tour which took them around Europe and to Japan where they featured on stage at the much celebrated ‘BRITISH ANTHEMS’ festival.

The ROBOTS IN DISGUISE are currently penning their highly anticipated 4th album, which promises to be just as exhilarating and zealous as ever!

The Last Men

The Last Men are a forward thinking Progressive Electro-Indie band from Hertfordshire and Essex borders, consisting of four last men and one last woman.

Their songs have this delightful way of drawing you in before erupting into an explosion of sound. They’re a promising band with brilliant song-writing skill. A quality that has also been noticed by Absolute radio and BBC Introducing – just a couple of places The Last Men can boast about having their music played.

They’re doing everything right for the current music environment, they’ve found a new interesting sound and manage to perform it better than most bands I’ve heard of this nature.

Emcoil

"Take Enter Shikari and add a bit of Killswitch Engage and your about on the head describing Emcoil's sound." - TotalRoack Radio

"Emcoil have been together only a short time but are showing the tell tale signs of their influences (Killswitch Engage, Incubus, Machine Head). These guys pull together a heavy yet melodic set, incorporating both mellow progressive rock and total mind destruction metal. Adding just a touch of electro and screamo to their style makes them impossible to ignore." - feed me music

A London based 5 peice band, Emcoil self-released their debut single 'Loser' at the beginning of 2010 and it has been playlisted on TotalRock Radio.

Fearless Vampire Killers

Fearless Vampire Killers (FVK) are five outsiders, long since relocated to London from their home town in The Waveney Valley. Friends long before a band, brought together by being different. Five young men determined to have their voices heard.

Drawing influences from the likes of Avenged Sevenfold, Every Time I Die & Queen, FVK's songs are unashamedly big. Heavy, for sure, but with pop hooks, sweeping choruses and layered harmonies. Lyrically FVK embrace where they're from. The outside. Reaching out to the disaffected through painting their vision of a better future.

FVK deliver their fans an incendiary live show, building an intense connection with their audience, whether made up of fanatics or FVK virgins. Theatrical, but never afraid to disregard restraint and viciously proclaim their aggressive punk heritage, FVK are epitomised by their twin lead vocals, soaring guitars and a thundering rhythm section.

"A band who will be worth keeping an eye on in the coming months." -Artrocker
"gothically inclined pop-rock songs boast decent hooks, with a new romantic sensibility spliced into the mix in a weirdly effective fashion" -Rock Sound

Secret Cinema Band

This vibrant 4-piece have wowed audiences since their inception in late 2008, playing festivals and venues around the UK. They are one of the winners of the Q Magazine Glastonbury Emerging Talent and as a result performed at Glastonbury 2010 with great reviews.

With varied backgrounds, their music is both moving and hard to define. The band collectively writes it's music and use unusual instruments, commonly replacing a Bass with FX'd electric violin and using old electronic toys. This unusual approach has led to comparisons with bands as varied as Pink Floyd, Radiohead, TV On The Radio and Mars Volta.

They use experimental film footage giving audiences a unique experience. Secret Cinema have recorded at EMI studios and worked with producer Daniel Knowles from the Post-rock band 'Amusement Parks On Fire' to record the first 3 tracks of their forthcoming album 'Through a Cathode Darkly'. The rest of the tracks have now been recorded for this exciting project and the band are looking forward to releasing it.

The Overwrought

People always moan about the state of music. 'It's all the X Factor's fault', they say. It's not. It's the fault of bands who play it safe with boring songs about how someone somewhere broke their heart.
Wow.
This country is going through its biggest social and political upheaval since the 1980s. Students are rioting, jobs are being lost, education is being treated like something you can put a cash value on. We don't care about love, we're not interested in cosy songs. Go and listen to U2 or Coldplay, or any of the millions of copycats playing self-indulgent crap in pubs across the country. So instead of moaning about there being no 'real' music, about how no one says anything, or challenges anything, trust us. WE WON'T LET YOU DOWN.

Their jaw-dropping, crowd-surfing, speaker-climbing set at Glastonbury confirmed them as one of the finest British live acts around.

The Strangerhood

Bishop's Stortford four-piece The Strangerhood, who categorise their highly original quasi-electronic style as "dirtyacousticsynthnoiserock", are one of the most popular acts on the local music scene. At the core of their sound are the powerful and emotional compositions of frontman Dean Austin, who wields his acoustic guitar like a weapon as he belts out the lyrics with an almost intimidating intensity. The cherry on top of the musical cake comes from his comrades, who lay down some hypnotic, insistent dance-style beats and grooves layered with echoing, distorted cries of electronic noise that sound like some crazed disco from another planet. Experimental but highly listenable, The Strangerhood are a real one-off.

Burn So Bright

Burn So Bright are a Pop Punk/Alternative band from the Herts/Essex area that exploded onto the scene just over a year ago. The band's energetic live shows won them a strong local following which continues to build with every appearance they make. The debut EP 'Sparks' was released in August 2010 which pushed the bands music out of the local area and to new fans all across the UK. The single 'To The Black, White & Winged' was a huge success and reached number one on charts such as the Lava TV Top 20 (Sky Chanel 378) ahead of bands such as Paramore and You Me At Six. The positive response from the Single/EP release has led to the band touring across the UK with dates reaching from Edinburgh to London coming up over the summer. Burn So Bright recently completed their line-up after several member problems and are now writing for their second release.

Garrison Finish

Garrison Finish is a rock 'n roll institution with its sights set firmly on the top. It is the creation of lead singer/lyricist Rob Angelico, who for two years assembled a variety of local musicians around him to pursue the rock n roll dream.

In early 2010, when it became clear that this approach was not working, Angelico shed himself of this band and started afresh, carefully handpicking his new musicians and creating the greatest incarnation of GF to date. The GF of now is a slick 4-piece, boasting extraordinary young talent and killer style to deliver a 30 minute set of hi-octane, passion-drenched rock music. Whilst recently penned as somewhere between Guns N Roses and Foo Fighters, GF make their own stamp on rock music; creating powerful, uplifting soul/blues driven songs with strong melodic hooks and screaming guitar solos.

From humble beginnings in Bishops Stortford two years ago, Garrison Finish look forward to an enormous year in 2011 with their new Camden residency and constantly-improving setlist. Catch them this year for a respite to the indie-electro shite that has plagued rock music for the last decade, with an injection of pure RnF’R straight into your heart.

Papa Shango

Papa Shango Were formed November 2003 by Papa No:1, who wanted to re-define the boundaries of performance music, wanting to entertain and seduce audiences as well as win them over with hard rockin.

In order to do so, the right musicians had to be found.

After a few trial and error sessions the right musicians were indeed discovered, each individual musician possessing a wealth of creativity, talent and experience.

But what does the future hold?

With the mind of Papa No:1, who knows!

Fallen From

Fallen From was formed in 2007 between best friends Dan Salter (guitar and vocals), Daryl Coubrough (Drums), and James Canning (Bass).

Despite being a three piece metal band Fallen From manage to produce a powerful and large wall of sound which is well worth experiencing live. Descibed as a "Melodic metal trio" Fallen From provide Powerful guitar riffs, head thumping drummin' and brain melting bass. Now does'nt that sound fucking awesome??!!

Can a three piece metal band really pull it off? Well people seem to think so! Fallen From finished 2nd out of 24 other bands in the Rhodes Rock Contest 2009 final. Losing out to Burn So Bright by just 3 votes!

If you like metal, heavy rock, alternative rock/metal then get down and see us!

Bite

BITE are a 4-piece alternative rock band from Harlow. They formed when Amber (Vocals/Guitar), Jamie (Guitar) and Charlie (Drums) were involved in school gigs, and realised they worked well together and formed a 3 piece band. However, after a few months they realised that they needed a bass player to move forwards with the music. After thinking long and hard about their options, one music lesson came, and they decided Heather (Bass) to be the ideal person. Since then, they have begun writing songs drawing influence from their favourite artists and musicians.

Little Philistines

The LPs have known each other a wee while, all in all. Emily knew Rob back when he was wowing the critics as the bassist in HOST. John and Adam had a long shared history of schooling and musicmaking together, and put their heads together with Rob in late 2004. The boys finally relented and allowed Emily to come and sing along with them JUST THIS ONCE. There was still something missing however, until Matt fell for the foursome at a midsummer party. Luckily the feeling was mutual and the band at last had the perfect drummer.
